purpose
Historic Downtown Charles Town is a quaint West Virginia destination for a unique mix of cultural offerings. Local arts institutions and the municipality received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts that funded the C-Town Arts & Culture District Plan, and evolveEA was selected through a competitive process to lead the project. After managing the proposal effort, I led our team in a year-long process to help the community define their identity and their 15-year vision for the walkable main street district. Our scope included urban design recommendations, a district identity and marketing concept, and cultural programming strategies that were co-created with the public through design workshops and interviews. The comprehensive report has guided branding, marketing, and architectural projects for the district that strengthen the tourism economy and quality of life for local residents.
